Student Sues L.A. College Over Right to Give Anti-Gay Marriage Speech
Jonathan Lopez says a public speaking professor berated him in class for making a speech opposing same-sex marriage. He says the professor wouldn't allow him to finish and called him a "fascist."
Lopez is represented by the Alliance Defense Fund, a Christian legal organization. In a letter to the group, the dean says she considers the complaint "extremely serious in nature" and has begun a disciplinary investigation.
But the dean also wrote that two students were "deeply offended" by the speech. She quoted one as saying "this student should have to pay some price for preaching hate in the classroom."
Lopez made the speech at Los Angeles City College in November, days after the passage of Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in California
Homosexuals Not So 'gay' In California
Americans who believe in traditional moral values like the right to life and one-man-one-woman marriage suffered a disappointing loss with the election of Barack Hussein Obama as president of the United States. The most liberal, pro-abortion president in our history, Obama also supports civil unions between people of the same sex. Conservatives were also frustrated by the rejection of pro-life measures at the polls in Colorado and South Dakota, and the failure of a law requiring parental notification for an abortion by a minor in California.
When conservative Christians lose at the polls, they react with quiet disappointment, reevaluation of political parties and traditional loyalties, and prayer for our nation and its leadership. But when the radical homosexual community loses an election, they fight back – literally.
The homosexuals' response to the passage in California of Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman, has been marked by violence, hatred and anti-religious bigotry. Earlier this year, the California Supreme Court struck down Proposition 22, a law passed in 2000 wherein the people of California had declared marriage to be only "between a man and a woman." Once again voicing their support for traditional marriage this Nov. 4, Californians approved Proposition 8, joining 29 other states where, by an average vote of 67 percent, the biblical definition of marriage has been protected in state constitutions. Proving to be the sorest of losers, thousands of angry homosexuals took to the streets to protest Proposition 8, even attacking Mormon and Christian churches in the process. Read full article
It' Not About Equal Rights
The argument sounds plausible enough,"we just want to have the same rights as anyone else." And denying another human being the most basic of civil rights isn't something that most people would want to be known for. Discrimination and bigotry, while having an unfortunate history in our country, are nonetheless attitudes that are typically shunned by society.
But while the Gay and Lesbian Community, together with their liberal sympathizers bring up these issues in their ongoing battle for same sex marriage, It has nothing to do with any of these. As their lifestyle is being glamorized in Hollywood, and parades are organized as a means of displaying their "liberation" with "pride", the courts, the schools, and even the churches are coerced into granting special rights all in the name of fairness. It has nothing to do with equal rights and everything to do with justification and acceptance of a lifestyle that has always been considered deviant and that deep-down they know is wrong.
The Gay Agenda
I believe that it's human nature to desire acceptance. No one likes to be marginalized or considered as second class. This is especially true when it comes to race or nationality. A person really has no control over where they are born or as to the race of their parents. In regards to faith, our constitution guarantees every American the right to practice or not practice religion with fear or intimidation. And yes, even in the area of sexual activities personal choice should be just that, and thus free from public scrutiny. And so it is with the the Gay and Lesbian Community albeit with a bit more force. They demand that society accept their lifestyle and that it be considered a preference or a choice along the same lines of choosing a car or preferring soup over salad.
Those demands are seen in our public schools as they indoctrinate children, their seen in our courts as they sue for discrimination while at the same time demand that the government stay out of their private lives and their seen on the national news as they violently protest the will of the people as in the ongoing situation with Prop. 8 in California. Acceptance is not enough; you must embrace their choice or be labeled a bigot or "homophobe." I find it ironic that the same people who complain about "our" morality being "forced down their throats" find it perfectly acceptable to require the rest of us to embrace their "morality."
Once acceptance has been achieved than justification will be realized. As with the "coming out" experience, justification is the next step toward getting rid of guilt. "If everyone accepts me then I can finally except myself." The problem with that is, if being gay is no more than a preference then why the guilt in the first place? Why conceal your sexuality in a "closet" when you believe it's the way God made you?
I suppose the gay answer to that is, society is just wrong about gay people and it's attitude toward the gay lifestyle. And that's precisely what I mean by a gay agenda. "Society must be re-educated about homosexuality so I don't have to live with the guilt." While "coming out" might have brought a sense of liberation it did nothing to change a sense of right and wrong and neither will Justification.
So What About Saving America?
As with so much of the liberal mind set the issue comes down to "my rights are the only ones that count". Along with that way of thinking is the mentality that right and wrong are no more then the way I interpret them and based on the situation or circumstances. Wrong does not become right simply because society accepts it. Adultery being presented on TV as casual and normal doesn't change the fact that lives are destroyed by it and America ceases to be great, as does any nation, when morality is defined by the individual and the not by God.
